The National Standard of LF Electrical Power and Energy consists of two digital sampling multimeters Agilent 3458A  using 1 Volt ranges, resistive type voltage dividers manufactured in SP, a multirange resistive divider MVRD manufactured in CMI, current shunts manufactured in CMI and a precision multirange current transformer from NMIA.

The national standard is used to realize and measure electrical active and reactive power in the voltage range of 1 V to 1000 V, current range of 1 mA to 200 A with phase shift of 0 to 2π. The upper limit of electrical power sampling is limited by the maximum voltage or current of the available transducers and the power source. The national standard is capable of measuring both AC active and reactive power in the fundamental frequency range of 16 Hz to 1000 Hz, as well as DC power. For DC power, the current is limited by an upper limit of 100 A, which corresponds to the largest cage shunt rated at 100 A.

The National Standard of LF Electrical Power and Energy consists of the following parts:

  • 2 Agilent 3458A digital multimeters,
  • Fluke 6100A power calibrator,
  • Fluke 6105A power calibrator,
  • a set of SP voltage dividers rated at 4 V, 12 V, 24 V, 56 V, 120 V, 240 V and 560 V
  • CMI current shunt set of nominal currents of 0.03 A, 0.1 A, 0.3 A, 1 A, 3 A, 5 A, 10 A, 20 A, 50 A and 100 A,
  • NMIA precision multi-scale current transformer (MTP),
  • MVRD - multi range resistive type voltage divider up to 1000 V.
