LEGAL METROLOGY SERVICES

The main goal of legal metrology is to prevent customers against consequences of incorrect measurements made in the field of official transactions, working conditions, public health and work safety. Setting of legal measurement units and measuring instrument requirements, methods of  measurement and testing serve for securing of these interest.

Legislative basis of the CR national metrological system is in brief described in the chapter " Legislature ".

Czech Metrology Institute supplies services in the whole range, thus:

placing on the market

measuring instrument type approvals

verification of legal measuring instruments

metrological control of pre-packages

-

registration of subjects manufacturing, repairing or assembling of legal measuring instruments

organisation and evaluation of interlaboratory comparisons

metrological supervision

drafting of lower level metrological regulations

international cooperation in the field of legal metrology (OIML, WELMEC).

Czech Metrology Institute supports also an authorisation of subjects for legal metrology services:

Legal metrology services are provided by all the Regional Inspectorates of the Czech Metrology Institute (see also Organisation scheme ).
